The controls also leave something to be desired especially if you’re on a trackpad. You’ll spend the first part of this game frustrated that your plane goes about 3 feet and the last part bored because your plane flies for 20 minutes straight. Now for the bad, the game is a little unbalanced, which is true of most of these flight/gliding simulators. The story line is very sweet and touching… not that I was all choked up (sniff sniff).

The music is absolutely beautiful, honestly it feels as if your playing an inspiring scene in a Disney movie. The graphics are good, with a cartoon/artistic story line. Let’s start with the good which heavily outweighs the bad. If you haven’t noticed I’m drawing a comparison between Flight and adorable but snot ridden babies. The kids not perfect but it’s adorable enough that you should pick it up and play with it anyways. Imagine for a moment a cute sweet baby that has a snot bubble. Ratings based on what I thought about the game, your own deity experience may vary.Ĭan I get M.I.A. For the right people this game will be strangely addicting, but for the average game player, this will probably be an experience you’d want to skip. If you’ve always wanted to play God with a bunch of pixels, this is your chance to do so. Also since the game has to figure out each interaction individually, it really forces your processor to work hard, Mac-o-philes like myself can look forward to hearing their fans running pretty much non-stop. For example, no amount of water will extinguish lava, a bag of ice will freeze an entire pond, and electricity never leaves metal. For another the interactions aren’t always accurate. For one thing every item whether it’s fish, water or acid, is represented as single pixels that merge together so everything you create will look like an MS-Paint portrait. I’ll admit to being a sucker for these sim-city style games and invested at least two hours growing plants, starting fires and creating my version of the rain cycle.Įven though this game allows you to create your own little world, it’s not without its faults.

It’s a wonderfully complex simulator and kudos to whoever programmed all the different permutations of actions. For example, oil floats on water, but burns when exposed to lava (go figure). Every option interacts with another in some way shape or form. The layout is fairly straight forward, you start with an empty screen to the left and then select one of the 26 options on the menu to the right. While it’s one of the most unique and involving games I’ve played in a while, it’s not going to be terribly exciting for your average gamer. Its name is exactly what’s involved, a sandbox world where you can create and destroy to your heart’s content. Sandbox is a game that’s hard to give a rating to. I’d like to start this post of with about a dozen question marks. ?. This game really is a good creative piece, presented as a game and worth 10 minutes of your time especially if you’re a casual gamer.

I don’t think I’m being overly generous in saying that if they were to put this game on a touch screen it could act as an interactive art piece for MoMA. That being said, the art direction and animations are attention grabbing and it is fun to see what they came up with for each choice. Now that I’ve seen most of the different sequences I’m probably not going to go play it again. Now as a game, there really isn’t that much there.

PLANT A SEED GAME MITOZA SERIES

The curtain was pulled back and revealed the sad fate of my ducky who then cried a tear made of the original seed starting the series over again. He was then surrounded by a shower curtain and a grim reaper stork.

After the egg exited the stage, water flowed in through the hole it left, allowing my ducky to swim in. My seed was eaten by a bird, which then created a small egg, that was then surrounded by carrots pointing up which caused the egg to drill down into the ground. To illustrate how it works here is the sequence that I did to get to the unfortunate suicidal ducky pictured above. There is no story per se, just random events that flow into one another and ultimately into another seed being created restarting the whole experience. You’re then given of picture choices representing the next event you would like to see happen. Mitoza is simple to play, every round starts off with a tiny seed. Even if you aren’t sporting an ironic mustache or a D.A.R.E T-shirt most people will probably get a kick out of this funky, art-house style game. Hipsters everywhere need to stop discussing what brand of weed James Franco was smoking at the Oscars and take a jaunt over to Kongregate to try Mitoza.
